Brean Sands WKF Spring Course, May 2008

For the 5th year running Fudoshin club members travelled down the M4 and M5 to Pontins Brean Sands for the annual WKF Spring training course on Friday 9/May. Club members who travelled to Brean included Nick Mugridge, Phil Sears, Ed Stewart and Leanne Cotterill. The course was led by Sensei George Grimes (7th Dan Kyoshi), Sensei Tony Heap (7th Dan Wado-Kai) and Sensei Nick Quilliam 6th Dan Renshi.

Training started in Friday evening with a session from 7pm to 9pm which was particularly memorable for the warm up led by Paul Burnham - we didn't know we had so much sweat in us! We then retired for a chat in the bar and a catch-up with old chums. There wasn't much dancing this year - Pontin's seemed to have secured the services of the worst DJ in the Northern Hemisphere and he did a first class job of keeping everyone off the dance floor!

As always, the training on Sat and Sun was first class and everyone learnt a lot and had a great time. This year Ed even made it out of his bed to join us for the run and footie match on Sunday morning - go Ed!

The standard picture of everyone smiling at the end of the course: back row (left to right) - Nick, Ed, Kev, Laura, Leanne, Amir and Sarah; front row (left to right) Glyn and Phil.

They all seemed a bit angry when I accused them of being too ugly to photograph. Glyn, the "Grim" reaper, got particularly worked-up and took it out on Laura with one of his special 'low' kicks - see the action captured below. We're all looking forward to next years course already - hope to see you there.
